STORY/ TAKE A DEEP BREATH

Freediving is more than just a sport. It’s a way of being. I had the honor to join a group of freedivers as they prepared for their descent into the deep. In the golden light, I captured them embrace their ritual each lost in their own world, finding stillness before the dive.

Eyes closed, steady breaths. The sun warms their skin as they center themselves, grounding mind and body. A final inhale, deep, deliberate, filling every corner of their lungs with life. One by one, they slip beneath the surface, surrendering to the silence. Weightless. Boundless. A moment of absolute presence. The world above fades, and in its place, a deep connection to self, to the water, to something greater.

These are the moments that exist beyond time: raw, pure, and infinite.
